Where to Stay in Pattaya Thailand: 18 Best Hotels in 2026

If you’re considering a trip to Thailand and your choice has fallen on this famous coastal city, I need to warn you about one crucial thing right from the start. In Pattaya, you’re not just choosing a hotel, but mainly whether you’ll actually get any sleep at night. This is a pulsating resort that never sleeps, and the location of your accommodation is key to your overall satisfaction.

The entertainment zone around the famous Walking Street has official closing time at four in the morning and the noise carries really far. The three main parts of the city are easily five kilometers apart and you definitely won’t be walking between them in the tropical heat. Your decision about which neighborhood to stay in will affect absolutely everything, from the quality of the sea to the overall budget of your holiday.

I’ve prepared a comprehensive accommodation guide for you so you know exactly where to lay your head and what to expect from each area. We’ll look at quiet family resorts, luxury oases for couples, and budget-friendly options by the sea. You’ll also find out when is the best time to book, how to save money, and which specific hotels to avoid.

Which area to choose

Naklua and Wong Amat (north) is the best choice for families with small children and couples seeking peace and quiet. You’ll find the prettiest beach in mainland Pattaya, significantly cleaner water than in the center, and large resorts right by the sea. The area is somewhat more expensive and there aren’t as many establishments outside the hotels, but you can reach the bustling center by local baht bus in just ten minutes.

North Pattaya (around Terminal 21) offers a great compromise between tranquility and urban amenities. Hotels at the northern end of Beach Road promenade are far from the biggest nighttime noise, but you still have excellent restaurants and a huge shopping center within reach. Just be careful to always choose accommodation north of the noisy Soi 6 alley, where the wilder nightlife begins.

Central Pattaya (Beach Road and Second Road) suits travelers who want all the action right on their doorstep. You can walk everywhere, whether it’s the main beach, shopping centers, or harbor piers. However, you need to expect significant noise even after midnight, poorer sea quality for swimming, and typical tourist prices in restaurants. For short stays of a few days though, it’s a very practical base.

South Pattaya and Walking Street is the epicenter of nightlife with clubs open until the early morning hours. Due to the city’s notorious reputation and focus on late-night entertainment, this area is not suitable at all for families with children and regular couples. The only exception is the excellent hotels located beyond this zone towards the harbor, where ferries to the islands depart.

Pratumnak Hill forms a green hill between the bustling center and the southern Jomtien beach. It’s a noticeably quieter area full of beautiful boutique hotels and small cozy coves, such as Cosy Beach. You can drive to the center and to Jomtien in about ten minutes, but keep in mind that walking uphill in the tropical heat isn’t exactly pleasant.

Jomtien and Dongtan to the south offer nearly six kilometers of beach with calmer water and a more relaxed atmosphere. You’ll find the widest stretch of sand, famous night markets, and generally somewhat better prices than in the center of Pattaya. The journey to the city takes about twenty minutes by baht bus, which makes the area an ideal place for longer stays and wintering.

Na Jomtien and Bang Saray lie roughly eleven to twenty kilometers south of the big city bustle. These areas are home to huge luxury resorts and quiet villas where you can enjoy maximum privacy and empty beaches. Without the Grab app or a rental car though, you won’t get anywhere from here, so this is a choice for those who want to stay mainly within the hotel grounds.

When to go and when to book

Thai hotels currently offer very interesting price fluctuations that you can cleverly take advantage of. During the rainier months from June to September, accommodation occupancy drops to a minimum and hoteliers commonly discount by 30 to 50 percent compared to high season. The best combination of pleasant sunny weather and reasonable prices is traditionally offered in November and March.

On the other hand, the period around Christmas and New Year’s means occupancy exceeding 80 percent and prices soar sharply. If you’re planning a trip over the turn of the year, book your rooms even six months in advance. The same rule applies to Chinese New Year (falling on February 6, 2027) or the grand water festival Songkran, which in Pattaya is celebrated under the name Wan Lai typically from April 17 to 19.

When booking, always carefully check whether the stated amount is final. In Thailand, the so-called plus plus is often added to the base price, meaning 10 percent service charge and 7 percent tax (VAT). Also keep in mind that most quality hotels require a deposit block on your credit card at check-in, ranging from one to five thousand baht, and its release can take several weeks.

Before departure, check the current administrative requirements, which often change. The tourist entry fee (planned 450 THB) was still not being collected in September 2026, but verify the situation before traveling. What is mandatory, however, is the digital arrival card TDAC (Thailand Digital Arrival Card), which you must fill out free of charge no more than 72 hours before arrival and you need to enter the exact address of your hotel.

18 best hotels in Pattaya Thailand

1. Centara Grand Mirage Beach Resort Pattaya

If you’re planning a holiday with kids, Centara Grand Mirage Beach Resort Pattaya will probably excite you. It’s located right on Wong Amat beach and is one of the highest-rated hotels in the city. It’s in the higher price category, but you get a huge world full of fun in return. People here most praise the fantastic water park with a lazy river and slides that you won’t be able to drag the little ones away from. While they’re splashing around, you can relax in the spa. Guests also often rave about the incredibly friendly staff and abundant breakfasts where absolutely everyone will find something.

Keep in mind that it gets busy during holidays and longer queues sometimes form at check-in. The rooms themselves though are beautifully spacious, clean, and you’ll have a great view of the ocean. Right on the premises you’ll find six different restaurants, so you don’t actually have to leave. But if you do get a craving for plant-based food, the famous Tess Vegan Cafe is hidden in nearby Soi 16, definitely worth a visit. You can then easily ride to the bustling center by local baht bus in about ten minutes.

💡 Tip: Family rooms tend to be sold out months in advance, so don’t delay your booking. If it’s fully booked, a great alternative connected directly to Terminal 21 shopping center is Grande Centre Point Pattaya, where the kids’ club works excellently.

2. Grande Centre Point Space Pattaya

Grande Centre Point Space Pattaya in the north of the city looks exactly like its name sounds, and right at the entrance you’ll feel like you’re on board a real spaceship. This unique hotel takes family vacations to a completely different galaxy, and guests return here enthusiastically. The biggest draw is the huge themed water park with slides, an amazing games room, and for parents a luxurious spa with an onsen. People highly praise the meticulously designed sci-fi details, spacious rooms with sea views from private balconies, and the overall peaceful environment. It feels like a great safe haven from the wild nightlife that Pattaya is otherwise quite famous for.

Keep in mind that this exclusive experience comes with a fairly high price point. Vegans might be slightly disappointed here, as the breakfast selection for them isn’t particularly impressive, but otherwise everything works excellently. The location near the quieter Wong Amat Beach is really nice, as is the proximity to Terminal 21 shopping center, which you can reach on foot in five minutes. The reception staff will happily help you with trips to nearby Koh Larn island, where from April 10, 2026, you can take the ferry from Bali Hai Pier for a reasonable 40 THB.

💡 Tip: The space concept is designed more for families with slightly older children who’ll appreciate the wilder slides and modern technology. If you’re traveling with small toddlers, check out Centara Grand Mirage a bit further along, where the water world is somewhat gentler.

3. Cape Dara Resort Pattaya

If you’re looking for an escape from the hustle and bustle with your partner, Cape Dara Resort Pattaya will suit you perfectly. This more upscale hotel sits on a rocky headland in the Wong Amat area and guarantees complete privacy. People praise the private little beach most, which is a huge rarity in Pattaya and means noticeably cleaner water. You’ll also be impressed by the pools with bars right in the water, where you can beautifully watch the sunsets with a cocktail. Rooms have balconies with sea views, so you’ll see the ocean right when you wake up. Guests also frequently mention the very friendly staff and excellent food at the local Radius restaurant.

Even though you’re nicely tucked away from the world here, a short walk brings you to Naklua Road. Plus, the hotel offers a free shuttle to Dolphin Roundabout. From there you can easily flag down a baht bus that takes you to the center near famous establishments like the vegetarian restaurant Govindam. Just don’t forget that baht bus drivers never ask about the price upfront. As for a few minor downsides, communication occasionally falters before arrival. For example, if you require halal food, the hotel will gladly prepare it, but they won’t confirm it very clearly in advance.

💡 Tip: From the remote Wong Amat headland, expect evening trips to the center by Grab or baht bus to take about ten minutes. If you want to stay right where the action is, check out Baywalk Residence, but be prepared for older rooms and morning noise from nearby construction.

4. COSI Pattaya Wong Amat Beach

COSI Pattaya Wong Amat Beach is a modern, cleverly designed hotel near the northern beach that’s popular with younger travelers and nomads on a smaller budget. Don’t expect some tired average place – this spot has a genuinely pleasant atmosphere. On the ground floor you’ll find a stylish 24-hour café that makes for a nice place to work and relax. People praise the absolutely clean rooms with excellent air conditioning, really comfortable beds, and the outdoor pool for morning refreshment. You can also use the gym, ping pong table, or laundry on the second floor, and you can walk to the sea in about five minutes – it’s only four hundred meters away.

Keep in mind that the friendlier price comes with slightly more compact room dimensions and weaker sound insulation on the doors. Definitely ask right at reception for a quieter room somewhere at the end of the hallway, so you won’t be woken by late-night revelers from the city. A minor snag is that there’s no kettle in the room, and although you have free hot water available, you have to pay for cups, so your own mug will probably come in handy. The neighborhood is fortunately very quiet and safe, with good restaurants, massage parlors, and a small Tops Daily supermarket just near the hotel.

💡 Tip: It’s just under three kilometers to the center along Naklua Road, but you don’t need to rent a car. The local shared taxi called a baht bus will take you there in about ten minutes and the trip costs just 20 THB.

5. Grande Centre Point Pattaya

If you’re looking for a comfortable base, Grande Centre Point Pattaya on the northern edge of the center ranks among the best-rated hotels in the city. Its biggest advantage is the direct connection to Terminal 21 shopping center, so you can pop over for shopping or dinner in flip-flops. People highly praise how well the services for families with children work here. You’ll find spacious family rooms, an excellent kids’ club, and a fantastic pool area with views right over the bay. The staff is incredibly attentive, honest, and remembers even details like that you drink decaf coffee.

A huge draw is the glass skywalk on the roof with a phenomenal view of the entire coast. You can cap off the experience at the restaurant on the top floor, where people come for romantic dinners at sunset. The hotel is located at Dolphin Circle, so you’re far enough from the wild nightlife but with good access to transportation. When you head out to explore the area or go to the beach, remember that from April 10, 2026, a trip by local baht bus around the center costs 15 THB. You can get everywhere for just a few baht.

💡 Tip: Definitely explore the huge food court in the adjacent Terminal 21. You’ll find dozens of stalls with cheap and absolutely authentic Thai food, and you can easily find great vegetarian options too.

6. Holiday Inn Pattaya

You’ll find the reliability of a popular international chain and absolutely excellent facilities for families at Holiday Inn Pattaya at the northern end of Beach Road promenade. It’s probably the smartest middle ground for anyone who doesn’t have a rental car and wants to have both the sea and the city right at their doorstep. People highly praise the smiling staff, huge breakfast selection, and beautiful ocean views that you can enjoy from virtually every balcony. The resort is divided into two towers, with children thrilled by the special pool and adults appreciating the quieter zones for relaxation.

The rooms are decorated in light colors, look very clean, and you can sit nicely on the balconies in the evening. Right in front of the hotel stretches the city beach, which isn’t among the most beautiful in Thailand but is more than sufficient for morning walks. The advantage of this location is that it’s safely north of the bustling Soi 6 street, so you won’t be woken by thumping music from the bars at night. Just keep in mind that when there’s a big influx of guests, the afternoon check-in can drag out, so arm yourself with a bit of patience. For dinner you can just walk along the coast.

💡 Tip: Ask at reception about the conditions of their family program, which lets children under twelve eat free. If it’s full, nearby there’s the cheaper The Grand Lodge Pattaya, where guests appreciate the cleanliness but honestly warn about noise from surrounding bars.

7. Amari Pattaya

A classic at the northern end of the beach promenade is Amari Pattaya, a five-star resort at 240 Beach Road that ranks among the best-rated hotels in the city. Guests especially praise the exceptional cleanliness and excellent family-friendly approach. The crown jewel is the outdoor lagoon-shaped pool with slides and a swim-up bar right in the water. It seems to me this is a beautiful place to escape the city chaos, if you don’t mind mid to upper-range prices. You’ll also find the luxurious Breeze Spa with traditional Thai massages, and you only need to cross the street to stand right on the sand.

If you like trying local flavors, look for street stalls outside with a yellow flag and red เจ symbol. This is pure plant-based Thai jay cuisine, so you can enjoy excellent pad thai without shrimp and fish sauce. Just be aware that reception strictly enforces check-in from two o’clock in the afternoon only. The interiors won’t disappoint though, the rooms themselves smell brand new, have elegant wooden elements and spacious bathrooms. Larger families rave in reviews about the huge suites with multiple bedrooms.

💡 Tip: Even in this quieter section, definitely ask for a room facing the sea so the baht buses driving by at night won’t disturb you. When it’s full, nearby are the Nova Suites Pattaya by Compass Hospitality apartments with a rooftop pool.

8. Dusit Thani Pattaya

At the very northern tip of the bay, where the main beach begins, lies the five-star Dusit Thani Pattaya, which exudes old-school luxury. You’ll be impressed by the huge space and tropical garden with waterfalls. Guests most praise the views, generous breakfasts at three restaurants that are often already included in the price, and direct beach access. The resort is probably best suited for those who appreciate a large complex with two pools and a spa, and like being close to Terminal 21 shopping center. Expect higher prices and honestly, I should warn you that the facilities could use a bit of modernization. Due to the location in the city, music from the surrounding area sometimes reaches here, so don’t expect absolute silence.

The location on the border between busy Pattaya Beach and quieter Wong Amat is a big benefit, giving you two different beaches at your fingertips. You’ll also find that rooms have a more traditional Thai design and are perfectly maintained. When you feel like exploring downtown, just head out and catch a passing baht bus. Just remember that when boarding, you never ask about the price. You simply hop on, ring the bell at your destination, and pay the driver with small change when getting off.

💡 Tip: Request a room on the upper floors with a view of Pattaya Bay, that evening view of the lit-up city from the balcony is magical. When it’s full, a short walk from the beach you’ll also find the clean and cozy Mood Hotel Pattaya with a rooftop pool.

9. Hilton Pattaya

Right in the heart of the city, above the massive Central Festival shopping center, towers the five-star skyscraper Hilton Pattaya. The most praised features here are the absolutely fantastic staff and the infinity pool on the sixteenth floor, where you have the ocean right at your fingertips. The modern, beautifully bright rooms hide incredibly comfortable beds that you probably won’t want to leave in the morning for breakfast. By the way, breakfast changes every day, so there’s no danger of getting tired of it. Of the five local restaurants and bars, definitely don’t miss the rooftop Horizon bar, which is great to visit for an evening drink with panoramic views.

But be aware that you’re living in the center of all the action. You’re right by the very busiest alleys full of flashing neon lights, so forget about romantic evening silence. For shopping lovers and urban buzz enthusiasts though, this is paradise. I should also honestly warn you that the hotel doesn’t have a private beach and to reach the sea at the sandy strip you need to run across the busy coastal road. A few observant eyes also noticed minor signs of rust and wear around the glass pool edge, but according to guests, this doesn’t really spoil the overall luxurious impression.

💡 Tip: Even if you’re not staying here, make a reservation for coffee or a cocktail on the rooftop terrace, the view from there is incredible. For a cheaper stay, try the nearby futuristic NONZE PATTAYA hostel. The rooms are modern space pods from which you look straight out at the beach.

10. Arbour Hotel and Residence Pattaya

Arbour Hotel and Residence Pattaya can be found at the intersection of Third Road and Soi Durian in the wider center. It seems to me that although these are luxurious five-star apartments, you can get them at very affordable prices. The concept is mainly designed for longer stays, so the beautifully clean rooms include a small kitchenette with microwave and washing machine. People return here primarily because of the incredibly helpful staff who will solve absolutely everything with a smile. Enthusiastic reviews also go to the tasty breakfast with excellent coffee and the rooftop pool with loungers.

Be aware that you can’t walk to the sea from here, as the beach is about two kilometers away. For getting around you’ll need to use local baht buses or call a ride through the Grab app. The distance from the coast is compensated by spacious bathrooms and excellent facilities, though the beds might be a bit too soft for some tastes. Just a short walk from the entrance you have scooter rental shops and a 7-Eleven. If you get hungry, definitely head to the nearby Jai Jinendra restaurant, which is famous for its purely vegetarian dishes.

💡 Tip: The missing beach is fully compensated by the beautiful rooftop pool and hotel spa. When you add the exceptionally friendly approach of all staff, you get accommodation you won’t want to leave.

11. Holiday Inn Express Pattaya Central

Holiday Inn Express Pattaya Central works as a great base in the southern part of downtown for those of you who really only come to your room to sleep. The biggest trump card here is breakfast included, where people really praise the fresh omelets, so you’ll save yourself the morning search for cafes. The rooms are a bit more compact, but cleverly designed and feature very comfortable beds with a choice of soft or firm pillows. On the roof you’ll find a small pool for a pleasant refresh after a demanding day in the city.

The location near the main Second Road is super practical, as from here you can easily catch a baht bus north or to the port. But be aware that the area is full of bars, so I recommend this hotel more for those who enjoy soaking up the bustling atmosphere than for families with children. Some guests also point out that the bathrooms could probably use some light care. If you’re heading to the islands from the port, be very careful about water scooter rental scams and photograph the machine beforehand. If you’re looking for something more upscale, nearby is Grande Centre Point Pattaya, which is conveniently connected directly to Terminal 21 shopping center.

💡 Tip: If you’re a light sleeper, ask right at check-in for a room facing the quieter inner courtyard. Street noise from nearby streets could otherwise unnecessarily wake you in the early morning.

12. Cross Pattaya Pratamnak

On the green and noticeably quieter hill south of the roaring center lies the five-star boutique resort Cross Pattaya Pratamnak. The architecture here resembles colonial villas set in a lush tropical garden with a hotel restaurant and pool lined with mature trees that guests love for photos. I think you’ll be won over mainly by the morning feast, where you get a glass of sparkling wine alongside a rich buffet with Indian dishes and can conveniently order additional courses from the menu via QR code. Special praise goes to the helpful staff, huge comfortable beds, and the separate yoga room in the gym. The whole complex feels like an amazing sanctuary for more discerning couples.

Around the Pratumnak area you can beautifully enjoy romantic evening walks along the coast, where you’ll find plenty of pleasant cafes. Definitely don’t miss the nearby Apple Vegan Cafe, which makes fantastic plant-based specialties and smoothies. To reach noisy downtown Pattaya from here you need to head out by taxi, which most people actually see as a huge advantage. From honest guest warnings I’ll just add that the shower enclosure has quite a short glass screen, so after washing you’ll probably have a small flood on the bathroom floor.

💡 Tip: Pratumnak is a hill and it’s hard to walk from it in the heat, it’s about ten minutes by Grab or baht bus to downtown or Jomtien. If you wanted to save extremely, nearby is The rooms feel airy, but be prepared for enormous street noise.

13. InterContinental Pattaya Resort

InterContinental Pattaya Resort is tucked away on a quieter cliff south of the city and feels like it was made for couples or families seeking complete privacy. People love the expansive tropical gardens with several pools, so guests spread out nicely and you never feel crowded. A real rarity here is the small, meticulously maintained private beach without street vendors. The pavilion rooms themselves exude Thai elegance and their spacious terraces offer effortless ocean views. The staff will take care of you with warm professionalism and the beds are reportedly so comfortable you’ll want to take the same mattress home. Price-wise, the resort ranks among the most expensive in the city, but the level of service absolutely matches it.

Keep in mind that you’re somewhat cut off from the city buzz here, but the hotel transfer will get you to the center without any problem. An exceptional experience awaits on November 27 and 28, 2026, when the spectacular Pattaya International Fireworks Festival takes place. From the cliff terraces you can enjoy the fireworks in peace without having to squeeze through crowds on the promenade.

💡 Tip: Although the bustling Walking Street is just a few minutes away by car, the noise doesn’t reach the cliff. When it’s full, the nearby family-friendly Grande Centre Point Space Pattaya with its fantastic water park is excellent, just note that vegans reportedly won’t find much choice at breakfast.

14. Royal Cliff Beach Hotel

A legend among Thai accommodation complexes is Royal Cliff Beach Hotel, perched on the Pratumnak cliff and radiating that classic old-school luxury. It’s part of a gigantic lush estate where you can be driven around in electric carts. People praise most the huge pools with ocean views, the private beach, and the wonderfully friendly staff. The rooms are furnished in a somewhat more conservative style, but they’re truly spacious and perfectly clean. Staying on the cliff means you’re completely isolated from bars and noisy nightclubs, which attracts guests seeking mainly a slower-paced vacation and tranquility.

What to watch out for, though, is the weaker sound insulation of the rooms, so you’ll occasionally hear footsteps from neighbors above you. The breakfast buffet also tends to get quite packed and it takes a while for the staff to prepare a clean table. When you want to head to the center, rely on the Grab or Bolt app. A weekend ride will cost you around 150 to 250 THB. Around one in the morning, though, expect increased rates when the price for a night ride can easily double.

💡 Tip: The entire complex actually consists of four different hotels, specifically Beach Hotel, Beach Terrace, Grand, and Royal Wing, which share the beach and gardens. When booking, carefully check which section you’re actually purchasing your stay in.

15. Rabbit Resort Pattaya

If you prefer to avoid concrete skyscrapers, Rabbit Resort Pattaya on Dongtan Beach will probably enchant you at first sight. This boutique resort is an absolute revelation because you’ll sleep in traditional Thai wooden villas hidden in the shade of a dense tropical garden. People praise most the feeling of a remote jungle and also the very spacious rooms with comfortable beds and beautiful stone showers. You’ll also find two smaller pools set right into the rainforest greenery, where wonderful peace reigns, making it a great refuge for anyone seeking relaxation, and you can even bring your pet along.

The interior furnishings of the villas could use a mild renovation according to honest reviews, but the overall charm of the place reportedly isn’t spoiled by this. The resort sits in a quieter part of Jomtien and you only need to cross the narrow coastal road to reach the sea. I must warn you about one important thing, though, because until February 2027 massive sand replenishment is underway on Jomtien Beach. Some sections of the coast may resemble a construction site full of heavy machinery. The Dongtan area itself is usually spared the worst of the commotion, but it’s good to know in advance.

💡 Tip: Make use of the beautiful shaded terrace by the pool for your morning coffee. The garden is home to many colorful tropical birds, making it an absolutely perfect spot for quiet birdwatching.

16. Mövenpick Siam Na Jomtien Pattaya

For families who just want to unpack their suitcases and not worry about anything, Mövenpick Siam Na Jomtien Pattaya is probably the best place. This huge five-star resort lies about twelve kilometers south of the center and people love mainly that you don’t actually have to leave at all. From the upper floors of the spacious rooms you’ll get beautiful sea views. Kids will have a blast in the lagoon pools with slides or in the excellent kids’ club with animators, while you enjoy the clean beach with a drink from La Costa bar. The incredibly friendly staff works perfectly here too.

Keep in mind, though, that you’re somewhat cut off from the world here and without ordering a ride through the Grab app you simply won’t get to the city. If you do venture out on a trip to the whirl of Pattaya, don’t miss the traditional Thammachat Vegetarian Food restaurant in the center, where they cook honest meat-free food for a few dozen baht. And if you don’t feel like going anywhere, the hotel also has its own T55 New York Grill restaurant. You can also pop in for a quieter breakfast when the main restaurant has too much of a rush.

💡 Tip: Definitely don’t miss the daily chocolate hour in the lobby, when guests are served excellent Swiss chocolate and small desserts. In the evening, adults can then treat themselves to a quiet moment with a drink in the Panorama Lounge with amazing views.

17. U Pattaya Hotel

In the quiet fishing village of Bang Saray, about twenty kilometers from the entertainment center, hides U Pattaya Hotel, which ranks among the best-rated resorts in the south. The complex is built from natural materials, mainly wood and bamboo. People praise most the incredibly friendly staff, ocean views at sunset, and excellent food with authentic Thai flavors. The priciest villas have their own small pool, but the shared infinity pool right by the beach is absolutely sufficient and looks like something from a luxury magazine. What works perfectly here is the flexibility, as you have the room at your disposal for exactly twenty-four hours from arrival and breakfast is brought to you anytime and anywhere in the resort.

Keep in mind that while the surroundings are beautifully quiet, the beaches empty, and the sea noticeably cleaner than in the city, the price for this is remoteness. You won’t get by without your own car, or you have to rely on quite expensive taxis. From Suvarnabhumi Airport you get here best by private transfer, the journey takes about ninety minutes and costs around twelve to fifteen hundred baht. This feels like a great place mainly for couples who want to relax quietly by the water.

💡 Tip: Bang Saray is eighteen to twenty kilometers from Pattaya. With kids, head rather to the Na Jomtien or Naklua areas, you can check out Centara Grand Mirage Beach Resort Pattaya, where families love the local water park and rich breakfasts.

18. NONZE PATTAYA

For solo travelers, digital nomads, and backpackers on a limited budget, NONZE PATTAYA on Beach Road promenade is a very interesting find. Don’t expect traditional rooms here, you sleep in designer wood-paneled capsules that at first glance look a bit like something from a sci-fi movie. Guests appreciate most the surprising privacy, their own lighting, spacious locker, and reliable air conditioning. The shared bathrooms are kept in great cleanliness, which is essential in a hostel. The real showstopper is then the beautiful view of the beach and ocean from the common areas, where you’ll also find a pleasant café with a bar. Good breakfasts are served here and you can easily meet other travelers.

Keep in mind, though, that you’re sleeping in the very heart of the city. The omnipresent street noise simply reaches here, so for people with light sleep it probably won’t be ideal. The staff is apparently very friendly and will happily help you with things like ordering a ride. When you get tired of the city and want to leave, just head to the northern terminal. From there, a direct bus operated by Roong Reuang departs roughly every hour heading to the airport in Bangkok, with tickets from 135 THB.

💡 Tip: It’s definitely worth paying a few dozen baht extra for a more spacious capsule in the bottom row. It’s much easier to get into, you avoid climbing, and you get noticeably more space for your backpack.

How to choose the right hotel

When making your final decision, clarify who you’re traveling to Thailand with and why. For families with children, the priority is clean sea and hotel facilities, so choose exclusively resorts in the north in the Wong Amat area or in the quieter south in Na Jomtien. Couples in love will most appreciate boutique hotels on the green Pratumnak hill, where they’ll have privacy and great restaurants within reach. If you have a tight budget and came mainly for entertainment or shopping, look for accommodation in the wider center near the beach, but always with regard to the surrounding bars.

Some well-known hotels are better avoided just to be safe, even if they tempt you with suspiciously low prices. An example is the gigantic Ambassador City Jomtien with a rating of only 4.0 from 7,892 reviews, which is over thirty years old and guests in 2026 are massively reporting tired rooms and corrosion in the showers. Another warning is Basaya Beach Hotel & Resort with a rating of 3.8 located in the extremely noisy zone near Soi 6, or mediocre hotels like Golden Beach Pattaya (3.9) and Sea Breeze Jomtien (3.9). If the rating on maps drops below four, better look elsewhere.

Frequently asked questions

How does transportation around the city work and how much does it cost?

The most common form of transport are so-called baht buses (songthaew), which constantly circle the main streets. From April 10, 2026, prices increased slightly, so you’ll pay 15 THB for a ride through the center and a trip to the more distant Jomtien will cost you 20 THB. The key rule is: hop on, ring the bell at your destination, and pay when you get off. Don’t ask the driver about the price in advance, otherwise they’ll interpret it as ordering a private taxi for hundreds of baht.

Do I have to pay any entry fee to Thailand?

There’s constant confusion around the tourist fee. The originally planned 300 THB is still not collected anywhere as of September 2026. The government recently approved a new version of the fee at 450 THB, but its actual implementation and collection at airports is expected no earlier than during 2027. Always verify the situation from official sources just before your departure.

Do I currently need to fill out any forms before arrival?

Yes, the paper immigration cards from the plane have been definitively replaced by the TDAC (Thailand Digital Arrival Card) system. This electronic form is completely free and you must fill it out online no more than 72 hours before your planned arrival. To successfully submit it, you’ll need to know the exact address of your first hotel, so book your accommodation in advance. Watch out for fake websites that try to charge fees for filling it out.

Where can I swim safely in the city?

The main beach in the center has undergone revitalization, but water quality is still only acceptable at best, often disrupted by anchored boats. The cleanest swimming on the mainland can be found in the northern Wong Amat area or at the quieter Jomtien beach. For truly turquoise water, though, you need to take a ferry from Bali Hai pier to the nearby island of Koh Larn. The journey takes three-quarters of an hour and a one-way ticket costs 40 THB.

What scams should I watch out for most?

The most common problem tourists encounter is the so-called jet ski scam. After returning a rented jet ski, operators make up false damages and aggressively demand fines in the tens of thousands of baht. If you want to rent a jet ski, always take detailed photos and videos of the entire machine before riding and choose only stalls with the official yellow TAT sign. In case of problems, immediately call the tourist police at 1155.

I’m vegetarian, can I eat here without problems?

Meat-free food is very accessible in Thailand. I recommend seeking out great purely plant-based restaurants, such as the Indian Govindam in the central part of the city or the stylish Tess Vegan Cafe in the north. At street stalls, look for yellow flags with the red Thai symbol เจ (jay), which indicate strictly vegan Thai food. Always make sure they don’t add fish sauce or dried shrimp to your noodles.

How many days can I stay in the country without a visa?

Visitors from many countries can travel to Thailand for tourism purposes without needing to apply for a visa in advance. However, the rules for maximum visa-free stay length change often and during 2026 there was repeated talk of plans to shorten this period from 60 back to 30 days. Always check current and valid information directly on official Thai government sources or your local Thai embassy.

Don’t Forget Travel Insurance

Good travel insurance will protect you against illness, accidents, theft, or flight cancellations. We’ve had a few hospital visits abroad, so we know how important it is to have proper insurance arranged.

Where we insure ourselves: SafetyWing (simple monthly subscription) and TrueTraveller (for extra-long trips).
