Travelling since 2014. These days, as a family of three.
We're Lucka and Lukáš Konečný from Písek in South Bohemia. Loudavým krokem is our travel diary and our handbook in one: everything we figure out on the road, we write down so it saves you time, money and a few mistakes.
Lucka, Lukáš, Jonášek since 2024, and our dogs Kája and Baby at homeOur route
The blog started as an experiment: we wanted travel to pay for itself, at least a little. Here's where we've been since.
Loudavým krokem
The name, which means roughly “at an ambling pace”, unhurried, came to us in Moravia. We were dawdling through the woods, trying to think of a name for a Facebook page. We both had the initials LK even before the wedding, Lucie Kůsová and Lukáš Konečný, so that settled it. While we were still at university (Lucka studied journalism at the Faculty of Social Sciences, Charles University, Lukáš studied economics at the Prague University of Economics and Business), we started writing our first travel articles.

A year in Canada
Working holiday visas and the Rockies. Lucka cleaned rooms and then worked the front desk at a hotel in Banff, guided tourists at Lake Louise and spent the winter as a barista in Calgary. Lukáš came along. That year gave us more photos and more articles than any other.

Three months in a car, all the way to Alaska
After Hawaii, we converted a car so we could sleep in it and drove through the USA and Canada all the way to Alaska. “Every crisis depended on how many days we'd gone without a shower,” we said afterwards on DVTV, a Czech online TV channel.
Camping our way through Uganda
At the end of the year we drove around Uganda and spent two weeks sleeping in a tent. We met a gorilla that came over to touch us, and lost a drone that got confiscated.
A wedding, then e-bikes to Greece
We got married at the end of July and straight after set off on e-bikes from Písek to Greece and back. Six weeks that Lucka wrote about for the Czech magazine Reportér.
Thailand and Mexico
We worked from our laptops and lived somewhere new every few months. On Koh Samui we learned to ride a scooter, and in Mexico we found out just how pleasant life there can be.

Starting LK Media
We moved our client work under our own brand. What began as a small “freelance duo” is now a marketing agency for Czech companies.
Summers in Písek, winters in Portugal
Covid brought us back home, and we found out we liked it there. We still left for the winters, though, most often to Portugal. Our last winter there was in 2025.

Jonášek
He was born nine weeks early and weighed one and a half kilos. After a month in hospital we took him home, and ever since we've been learning to travel in a completely different way.

Three of us, with a base at home
For the first time in ages we have a base in the Czech Republic and set off from there. Swiss viewpoints, a stone forest in Bulgaria, Norway's Lofoten Islands. Shorter legs, more breaks, and articles about what actually works with a small child.
Why we travel
What we love most about travelling is that we do it together. It used to mean months at a time, nights in car parks and working from cafés on the other side of the world. Now we travel in shorter stretches and more slowly, because with a two-year-old there's no other way.
Funnily enough, that has brought us closer to the name of our blog than ever. We've always found the best places when we weren't in a hurry.
“I'm not just with Lukáš all the time when we travel. I'm with Lukáš all the time, full stop.”Lucka in an interview for Na nomádské stezce, 2018
What we do for a living
We work online, so our work comes with us. The blog is one of our main sources of income and pays for all our trips. Alongside it, each of us also runs a company.
Lucka
She studied journalism and after graduating helped get DVTV off the ground. She co-owns nanoSPACE, the family company she has been building with her dad since 2015. At LK Media she is in charge of creative work and content.
On the blog she writes the stories, the family travel pieces and anything that calls for a good photo. You'll find her on Instagram as @endijka.
Lukáš
He runs LK Media, a marketing agency that helps Czech companies win customers online: SEO, email, advertising. He has been working in online marketing for more than 14 years.
On the blog he looks after the practical side: prices, transport, rule changes and the technical side of the site. “If it involves spreadsheets, it's mine,” he wrote back in 2019.
Loudavým krokem today
What began as the diary of two nomads is now one of the biggest Czech travel websites. And it's still just the two of us behind it.
How we make money from the site
Everything on the blog is free. Even so, it's one of our main sources of income and pays for all our trips. Here's how we earn:
- Booking commissions
- When you book accommodation, insurance, a car or a tour through one of our links, the partner pays us a small commission. It costs you nothing extra.
- Our own products
- The LK SIM eSIM for mobile data abroad, and destination maps. We only sell things we use ourselves.
- Collaborations
- Sponsored articles are always labelled. A hotel can give us a stay, but not a verdict: we also write about what we didn't like.
Jonáš the cosmonaut
In the incubator, hooked up to a breathing machine, Jonášek looked like a tiny cosmonaut. Lucka promised him back then that one day she would write a book about him. The story, written for premature babies and their parents, came out in 2025, illustrated by Jonášek's aunt Anna-Marie.
On the Czech crowdfunding platform Hithit, 2,267 people backed it with more than CZK 669,000. All of the author's royalties go to Nedoklubko, a Czech organisation that helps parents of premature babies.

Tips and Tricks for Your Vacation
Don’t Overpay for Flights
Search for flights on Kayak. It’s our favorite search engine because it scans the websites of all airlines and always finds the cheapest connection.
Book Your Accommodation Smartly
The best experiences we’ve had when looking for accommodation (from Alaska to Morocco) are with Booking.com, where hotels, apartments, and entire houses are usually the cheapest and most widely available.
Don’t Forget Travel Insurance
Good travel insurance will protect you against illness, accidents, theft, or flight cancellations. We’ve had a few hospital visits abroad, so we know how important it is to have proper insurance arranged.
Where we insure ourselves: SafetyWing (simple monthly subscription) and TrueTraveller (for extra-long trips).
Find the Best Experiences
Get Your Guide is a huge online marketplace where you can book guided walks, trips, skip-the-line tickets, tours, and much more. We always find some extra fun there!
