Review: Silwy Magnetic Cookware for Campervans & Motorhomes + 10% Discount

If you’ve ever travelled in a motorhome or campervan, you know all too well that keeping everything in place while on the road is tricky — and sometimes downright impossible. Especially if, like Lukáš, you keep forgetting to close the same cupboards over and over again. But that’s a story for another day.

Sharp turns, rough roads, or even sudden braking can send your dishes rolling around the interior. Silwy magnetic cookware is a brilliant solution for keeping bowls, mugs, and glasses firmly in place.

How does it work, what’s worth buying, and what are the pros and cons? You’ll find everything in our review.

Right off the bat, we can tell you that we’re pretty impressed — so much so that we’ve arranged an exclusive 10% discount for you with the code LOUDAVYMKROKEM.

How Does Silwy Magnetic Cookware Work?

The Silwy magnetic system is simple yet genius. Every piece of Silwy cookware has a magnet integrated into its base, which latches onto a special metal pad.

These pads can be placed on any smooth surface — whether it’s a table, inside a cupboard, or on a kitchen worktop. You can even store your dishes upside down, and they’ll stay put not only during regular driving but even under heavy braking.

The special pads come in two varieties: single-use ones with 3M adhesive tape, or reusable ones with nano gel, which offers flexibility and a clean finish with no sticky residue. We’d recommend going with the nano gel version.

Drawbacks of Using Silwy

Let’s start with the downsides first — because nothing is perfect.

  • You can’t use regular stainless steel cutlery. Well, technically you can, but it’s not comfortable — metal cutlery gets attracted to the surface of the plates and bowls. So you’ll need to use plastic or wooden cutlery instead. It doesn’t bother us, but it’s worth keeping in mind before you hit the road.
  • Silwy cookware can’t go in the microwave. If you have a microwave in your motorhome like we do, you’ll need to heat your food in a different dish, which can be a bit inconvenient since it means more washing up.

Benefits of Using Silwy

Now that you know it’s not all sunshine and rainbows, let’s look at why we genuinely love this cookware:

  • Rock-solid stability on the road — no more mugs rolling around or plates smashing to pieces.
  • Child-proof design — if you’ve got little ones, you know they knock everything over. This is an absolute must-have. Kids simply can’t tip over the glasses or mugs that easily.
  • Reusable nano gel pads let you easily reposition your cookware wherever you need it, without dust and sand sticking to the surface.
  • Stunning design and premium quality — the cookware looks elegant and is beautifully crafted. We’ll go into more detail below.

Silwy Magnetic Cookware: Our Experience

One thing that caught us off guard was buying stainless steel cutlery without realising it would be a nightmare to eat from Silwy dishes — thanks to those magnets. So our very first stop at a shop was to grab some plastic cutlery. Other than that, we’re genuinely thrilled with the cookware. The wine glasses and mugs in particular are absolutely fantastic.

Build Quality

When it comes to quality, Silwy won’t let you down. The cookware is made in Germany with meticulous attention to detail — exactly what you’d expect from German engineering.

From magnetic plastic glasses to porcelain mugs, every product feels solid, well-made, and aesthetically pleasing. The crystal glasses are elegant, while the plastic versions are wonderfully practical — especially if you tend to be a bit rough with your dishes.

Price

Yes, this isn’t budget cookware. Every component of a Silwy product is built to last — and that’s reflected in the price, which we think is entirely justified.

Packaging and Design

The Silwy products arrived beautifully and carefully packaged. Since we work in e-commerce and have launched a few products ourselves, we really appreciate when a brand nails the unboxing experience.

The design of the cookware itself is sleek, minimalist, and certainly won’t disappoint.

So What Should You Buy?

Among the bestsellers, the magnetic plastic WINE CLASSIC glasses stand out as perfect for a cosy evening by the campfire. If you fancy something a touch more luxurious, check out the magnetic crystal champagne glasses.

The magnetic MONACO lamps are also brilliant — you can stick them anywhere you need light.

Personally, my favourites are the mugs and wine glasses, and we also use the bowls constantly. We hardly use plates at all in the motorhome (we tend to eat everything from bowls).

Tips and Tricks for Your Vacation

Don’t Overpay for Flights

Search for flights on Kayak. It’s our favorite search engine because it scans the websites of all airlines and always finds the cheapest connection.

Book Your Accommodation Smartly

The best experiences we’ve had when looking for accommodation (from Alaska to Morocco) are with Booking.com, where hotels, apartments, and entire houses are usually the cheapest and most widely available.

Don’t Forget Travel Insurance

Good travel insurance will protect you against illness, accidents, theft, or flight cancellations. We’ve had a few hospital visits abroad, so we know how important it is to have proper insurance arranged.

Where we insure ourselves: SafetyWing (best for everyone) and TrueTraveller (for extra-long trips).

Why don’t we recommend any Czech insurance company? Because they have too many restrictions. They set limits on the number of days abroad, travel insurance via a credit card often requires you to pay medical expenses only with that card, and they frequently limit the number of returns to the Czech Republic.

Find the Best Experiences

Get Your Guide is a huge online marketplace where you can book guided walks, trips, skip-the-line tickets, tours, and much more. We always find some extra fun there!
