For a long time I didn’t get why so many people were searching for a hotel with a jacuzzi tub in the room. Then Jonáš was born. We hadn’t been to a spa in more than two years, because there was never anyone to babysit.
So we solved it our own way — we headed to OREA Hotel Arigone in Olomouc, where the room comes with not only a jacuzzi but also a Finnish sauna. The little one falls asleep in the evening and you get your own private wellness all to yourselves. Genius. ☺️

Jacuzzi vs. hot tub vs. whirlpool — what’s the difference?
Before we dive into the list, let’s clear up one thing that confuses just about everyone. Jacuzzi is actually a brand — the name of the Italian company that popularised the tubs. Hot tub and whirlpool are the general terms for a tub with jets and bubbles. In practice all three terms are used interchangeably, and hotels mix them however they like. 😅
So if you’re searching for a hotel with a jacuzzi bath in the room or a room with a hot tub, it’s the same thing. In this article we’ll use both terms — whatever you’re looking for, you’ll find it here.
Types of rooms with a jacuzzi
When choosing a hotel you’ll come across three main options:
- Jacuzzi in the room (in the bathroom) — right in the bathroom or bedroom. Ideal in winter, since you don’t have to go anywhere.
- Jacuzzi on the terrace/balcony — the more romantic option with a view. Great in any season, though in winter be prepared for the step from warm water into cold air to be… refreshing. 😁
- Private outdoor jacuzzi — in the garden of a villa or cottage. The most privacy, often part of renting the whole property.

Our top pick: OREA Hotel Arigone Olomouc — jacuzzi and sauna right in the room
We drove to Olomouc precisely for this room. OREA Hotel Arigone is a four-star boutique hotel in a historic building on Univerzitní Street, a few steps from the Upper Square — and its split-level wellness room is the dream of every parent with small kids: 85 m², a luxurious jacuzzi with an LED starry sky and a Finnish sauna downstairs, and the bedroom up on the mezzanine. Add a terrace overlooking Olomouc’s spires.
This is exactly where, after more than two years, we finally enjoyed a spa — no babysitting, no strangers in the sauna, just our own private spa behind a locked door.
The hotel has a rating of around 8.7/10 on booking portals — guests repeatedly praise the breakfasts, the friendly staff and the central location. If the split-level room is taken, don’t lose heart: Arigone also has a private wellness centre with six rooms (a jacuzzi in all of them, a Finnish sauna in four), which you can book for two hours or for the whole evening. Just note that parking in the courtyard comes at an extra charge.
💡 Tip: The hotel is just a few minutes’ walk from the Upper Square and the astronomical clock — in our view Olomouc is the most underrated city for a wellness weekend in Czechia. It has the historic atmosphere of Prague but without the crowds.

The hotel has a rooftop wellness area, Top Deck, with a hot tub and a view of Prague. Since the rebrand the room selection has been changing gradually — if you want a jacuzzi right in the room, check when booking that a suite with a jacuzzi is currently available. One small niggle from our stay: the shower water temperature tended to fluctuate.

The wellness centre is one of the best in Central Europe, the breakfasts are world-class, and a 9.6 rating on Booking speaks for itself. The price matches — but if you’re celebrating an anniversary or want something extra special, Kempinski is the right address.

Hotel Lomnica, Tatranská Lomnica — a private jacuzzi on the terrace in the Tatras
Hotel Lomnica is a beautiful historic hotel in Tatranská Lomnica that has undergone a complete renovation — and today it’s the surest bet for a private jacuzzi in the Tatras. The Maria Theresa apartment and the Maria Antoinetta Suite have their own jacuzzi on the terrace, with a view of the Tatra peaks.
From the hotel it’s a short walk to the cable car up Lomnický štít, and the surrounding area has dozens of hikes for every level. After a full day hiking in the Tatras you return to the apartment and sink into the bubbling jacuzzi — there’s no better way to recover. The hotel also has an excellent restaurant serving Slovak cuisine.

Ensana Thermia Palace, Piešťany — thermal spa in grand style
Piešťany is Slovakia’s most famous spa town, and the Art Nouveau Ensana Thermia Palace (formerly Hotel Thermia Palace) from 1912 is its flagship. But you don’t come here for a jacuzzi in the room — you come for the thermal water and sulphur mud, which have been treating joints at the connected Irma Spa for over a hundred years.
The hotel mainly sells multi-day treatment stays with therapies, so plan for a week rather than a weekend. The thermal water has proven benefits for joints and the musculoskeletal system. And the building is simply magnificent — as if you’d travelled a hundred years back in time.

During this year’s update we came across several hotels that regularly appear in similar round-ups — but their jacuzzi is only in the shared wellness area, not in the room. So you’re not caught out on arrival:
- BoHo Prague Hotel (Prague) — a gorgeous design hotel with a 9.4 rating, but the jacuzzi is only in the spa in the basement.
- Wellness Hotel Frymburk (Lipno) — a large aquapark and wellness, but no jacuzzis in the rooms.
- Wellness Hotel Horal (Velké Karlovice) — a family hotel with the great shared wellness of Resort Valachy, but don’t expect a jacuzzi in the room.
- Wellness Hotel Chopok (Demänovská dolina) — the jacuzzis are part of the wellness centres, but it’s an excellent base for skiing in Jasná.
Tips for a cheaper jacuzzi room booking
Rooms with a jacuzzi are usually pricier than standard rooms — no surprise there. But there are a few tricks to save money and treat yourself to a jacuzzi without having to sell a kidney. 😅
Deal sites and discount portals
Deal sites are probably the best place to hunt for discounted wellness stays with a jacuzzi. Packages usually include accommodation, breakfast, wellness and sometimes dinner too — and the price tends to be 30–50% lower than booking directly. It’s worth keeping an eye on local last-minute and deal portals, where genuine bargains sometimes pop up.
Direct booking vs. Booking.com
On Booking.com you can easily find hotels with jacuzzi tubs in room thanks to the “hot tub” filter — just tick it in the filters. If you have a Genius account you also get an extra 10–15% discount. But here’s our tip: always try the hotel’s own website too. Some offer a better price for direct bookings, because they don’t pay Booking’s commission.
The best time of year for a good price
If you’re flexible with dates, the cheapest stays with a jacuzzi are found from January to March (avoid Valentine’s Day!) and from October to November. Weekdays are always cheaper than weekends — Sunday to Thursday tends to be 20–30% cheaper. And watch out for New Year’s Eve and Valentine’s Day — book those at least 2–3 months ahead, or there’ll be no jacuzzi rooms left.
What to look for when choosing a hotel with a jacuzzi
Not every hotel with a jacuzzi tub in the room is the same. Here are a few things worth watching out for before you click “Book”.
Size and type of jacuzzi
Some hotels have a jacuzzi that barely fits one person — and that’s probably not what you have in mind. Always look at the room photos and, ideally, read the reviews. Look for information on whether the jacuzzi is big enough for two. The difference between a small tub in the corner of a bathroom and a spacious jacuzzi on the terrace is huge.
Other wellness facilities
A jacuzzi in the room is great, but if the hotel also offers a sauna, pool or massages, that’s an added bonus. Some hotels on our list have a complete wellness centre — which you’ll appreciate especially on a longer stay.
Meals and packages
Lots of hotels offer wellness packages that include breakfast, dinner and maybe even a massage. They often work out better value than booking the room alone. Also check whether the hotel has a restaurant — at cottages and apartments with a jacuzzi you’ll be cooking for yourself.

It depends on the hotel. Some hotels have hot tubs suitable for families too — we recommend Aparthotel Svatý Vavřinec in Pec pod Sněžkou (family apartments + children’s facilities) or Resort Svět near Prague (cabins with hot tub and sauna). At OREA Hotel Arigone in Olomouc, the child sleeps upstairs in the mezzanine while you relax downstairs in the hot tub. Always check with the hotel whether the hot tub is suitable for small children.
What is the difference between a hot tub in the room and on the terrace?
A hot tub in the room (in the bathroom) is more comfortable in winter and offers more privacy. A hot tub on the terrace is more romantic thanks to the views and fresh air, but in cold weather the transition from the water can be less pleasant. Both types are private — it depends on your preferences.

The best experiences we’ve had when looking for accommodation (from Alaska to Morocco) are with Booking.com, where hotels, apartments, and entire houses are usually the cheapest and most widely available.
Don’t Forget Travel Insurance
Good travel insurance will protect you against illness, accidents, theft, or flight cancellations. We’ve had a few hospital visits abroad, so we know how important it is to have proper insurance arranged.
Where we insure ourselves: SafetyWing (best for everyone) and TrueTraveller (for extra-long trips).
Why don’t we recommend any Czech insurance company? Because they have too many restrictions. They set limits on the number of days abroad, travel insurance via a credit card often requires you to pay medical expenses only with that card, and they frequently limit the number of returns to the Czech Republic.
