In the heart of the Turkish Riviera, you’ll find nothing less than one of the most visited resorts, the city of Antalya. However, Antalya is not just about all-inclusive resorts and lounging by the sea. If you give it a chance, it will pleasantly surprise you with its breathtaking nature, rich culture, and the historical spirit of towns from bygone eras. In this guide, “Antalya, Turkey: 25 Best Things to Do and See”, I will share my top recommendations for exploring the city and its surroundings.
Antalya, Weather: when to Go
The best time to visit Antalya is from April to October. These months offer pleasant temperatures and sunny weather, ideal for swimming and exploring the city and its surroundings.
If you want a typical summer vacation, then visit Antalya during the main summer season. However, be aware that the summer months (July, August) can be very hot, with temperatures reaching up to 37 degrees.
Where to Stay: Best Hotels in Antalya
In Antalya, you have the option to stay either in hotel complexes along the coast or in the old or new town, where you’ll find many guesthouses and hotels:

Antalya Vacation: where to Find the Best Tours
The best place to look for tours to Antalya in Turkey is on the Invia portal, where you’ll find a selection of tours from 150 Czech travel agencies. This makes it easy to compare prices from individual travel agencies, and all of them are verified by the portal, so you don’t have to worry about your money.
How to get around Antalya
The most commonly used means of transport in Antalya are buses. Payment is made using a card called Antalyakart, onto which you load credit. One card can be used by a group of people; just tap it multiple times. You can buy the card either from the driver (it’s usually pre-loaded) or at kiosks or vending machines.
Another means of transport are trams, where you can also use Antalyakart, but they cannot be purchased from the driver.
Then there are the so-called Dolmuşes, which are mini-buses that serve as a supplement to public transport. Just tell the driver where you’re going, and they’ll tell you the price, which you pay them (cash is required). It’s usually around two lira (15 to 20 Czech crowns). However, you need to keep an eye on the route, as Turkish drivers do what they want. 😄
If you want to go on a trip to nearby towns or move further afield, I recommend using intercity buses and minibuses. Antalya has the Antalya Terminali bus station, from which you can get virtually anywhere.

Turkey: Do I Need a Visa?
No. Czech citizens can stay in Turkey for up to 90 days without a visa. For travel to Turkey, you will only need a passport valid for at least 5 more months from your departure date from Turkey.
However, different conditions apply to those who wish to work in Turkey, for example, in a hotel.
Safety in Antalya
Antalya is generally considered a safe place for tourists, but as everywhere, it’s always good to observe basic safety precautions, such as watching your valuables and respecting local customs.
Even for solo female travelers, Antalya is not dangerous. You’ll likely attract the attention of Turkish men, but from my own personal experience, locals will never do anything to you except invite you on a date or propose marriage 😂.

Tips and Tricks for Your Vacation
Don’t Overpay for Flights
Search for flights on Kayak. It’s our favorite search engine because it scans the websites of all airlines and always finds the cheapest connection.
Book Your Accommodation Smartly
The best experiences we’ve had when looking for accommodation (from Alaska to Morocco) are with Booking.com, where hotels, apartments, and entire houses are usually the cheapest and most widely available.
Don’t Forget Travel Insurance
Good travel insurance will protect you against illness, accidents, theft, or flight cancellations. We’ve had a few hospital visits abroad, so we know how important it is to have proper insurance arranged.
Where we insure ourselves: SafetyWing (best for everyone) and TrueTraveller (for extra-long trips).
Why don’t we recommend any Czech insurance company? Because they have too many restrictions. They set limits on the number of days abroad, travel insurance via a credit card often requires you to pay medical expenses only with that card, and they frequently limit the number of returns to the Czech Republic.
