Travelling in a larger group can significantly reduce costs. If you’re heading somewhere with more than two people, it’s a good idea to agree in advance on how you’ll split expenses when travelling in a group. In this article, we’ll show you the app we use to track spending and easily divide costs among group members.
What to Use for Splitting Expenses
You’re heading off on a road trip with four people and you want to split expenses fairly. The simplest approach would be for one person to pay for everything, but that doesn’t always work out — and frankly, no one usually wants that responsibility. The worst option is when everyone pays for something different and tries to remember it all. The more organised among you might write it down, but the easiest solution by far is to use a dedicated app designed for exactly this purpose.
Track Statistics on Your Biggest Travel Expenses
We use Spendee, because it doesn’t just let you track who paid for what — it also gives you statistics on what cost the most during your trip. Thanks to this, we can share precise information in our articles about how much we spent on fuel, flights, food, or accommodation.

How Does It Work?
In the app, you create a new wallet and invite your travel companions. Then anyone in the group can log who spent what. When entering an expense, you select a category it belongs to. Spendee comes with pre-made categories, but you can also add your own custom ones.

What’s great about this app is that you can add expenses in different currencies, and it automatically converts them to your default currency based on the current exchange rate (you can, of course, change the default currency to GBP, EUR, or whatever you prefer). The app is available in multiple languages, including English.
If you want to try the app, you can get a Plus account for 3 months FREE using the code: SpendeeOdLoudacku (we don’t earn anything from this code)

Tips and Tricks for Your Vacation
Don’t Overpay for Flights
Search for flights on Kayak. It’s our favorite search engine because it scans the websites of all airlines and always finds the cheapest connection.
Book Your Accommodation Smartly
The best experiences we’ve had when looking for accommodation (from Alaska to Morocco) are with Booking.com, where hotels, apartments, and entire houses are usually the cheapest and most widely available.
Don’t Forget Travel Insurance
Good travel insurance will protect you against illness, accidents, theft, or flight cancellations. We’ve had a few hospital visits abroad, so we know how important it is to have proper insurance arranged.
Where we insure ourselves: SafetyWing (best for everyone) and TrueTraveller (for extra-long trips).
Why don’t we recommend any Czech insurance company? Because they have too many restrictions. They set limits on the number of days abroad, travel insurance via a credit card often requires you to pay medical expenses only with that card, and they frequently limit the number of returns to the Czech Republic.
Find the Best Experiences
Get Your Guide is a huge online marketplace where you can book guided walks, trips, skip-the-line tickets, tours, and much more. We always find some extra fun there!
