Every Moroccan city has its own rhythm, and Casablanca is a world away from Marrakech. If you\u2019re deciding where to stay in Casablanca Morocco, there\u2019s one important thing you need to know from the outset. Casablanca is primarily a business hub<\/strong>, not a classic tourist destination, so most travellers spend just one night here, or two at most. The city does have the beautiful Hassan II Mosque, but otherwise it mainly serves as a transport hub for onward journeys<\/strong> around the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That\u2019s why choosing accommodation in Casablanca is less about being close to historic sights and more about logistics and railway stations<\/strong>. The catch is that although trains from the international airport serve both main stations, trains to Marrakech, F\u00e8s and Tangier depart exclusively from Casa Voyageurs station<\/strong>. If you\u2019re planning to continue your journey the next morning, it makes sense to stay nearby. For exploring the city centre and the mosque, the area around Casa Port station is a better choice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Before we get into specific hotel recommendations, be prepared for one local quirk that can catch you out when it\u2019s time to pay. In Morocco, there are two separate tourist taxes per person, per night<\/strong>, which usually aren\u2019t included in the price shown on Booking.com<\/a>. These are a municipal levy and a national tourism tax, adding up to around 36 dirhams (about \u20ac3.30) per person, per night at a five-star hotel<\/strong>. That soon adds up over a weekend stay for two, so it\u2019s worth budgeting for this expense in advance. Fortunately, children under twelve are exempt from these charges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
