Nearly a year ago, on October 28, 2025, Hurricane Melissa slammed into western Jamaica, and images of a flooded harbor and smashed storefronts along the main tourist strip spread from Montego Bay around the world. Bamboo rafts once again float down the Martha Brae River, and in Negril, people are jumping off the cliffs at Rick’s Caf\u00e9 into the sea as the sun sets over the Caribbean. Montego Bay is open<\/strong>, it just has a few scars that are worth knowing about before you book your ticket.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The airport and most attractions have been running since December 2025<\/strong>. Some of the large resorts won’t return until 2027, though, the historic Greenwood Great House is closed, and the cable car at YS Falls has been destroyed.
