The city is changing and building at a breathtaking pace, which sometimes brings with it the typical Asian hustle, construction noise, and pavements packed with parked motorbikes.

Even so, it remains an ideal base for exploring the region, since you can easily head out to beaches, mountains, and historical sites from here. And the best news for international visitors: since last August, many nationalities can now enjoy visa-free stays of up to 45 days, saving you a great deal of paperwork and money.

<figure data-wp-context="{"imageId":"6ae0a8b687b05"}" data-wp-interactive="core/image" data-wp-key="6ae0a8b687b05" class="wp-block-image size-full October and November in particular can be critical — the sea develops strong rip currents and historic Hội An regularly deals with flooding, as it did during last year’s severe floods.

Where to Stay in Da Nang

When choosing accommodation, you’ll first need to decide whether you want to stay closer to the sea or near the river in the city centre. The area around Mỹ Khê Beach and the An Thượng neighbourhood is full of cafés and puts you just five minutes’ walk from the sand, while the centre along the Hàn River is better appreciated during the rainier months when the sea is rough anyway.

If you’re after great value for money close to the beach, take a look at the Sala Danang Beach Hotel, which features a lovely rooftop pool and often offers a free airport transfer.
