Hiroshima is a surprisingly compact city where the main decision revolves around one simple question: do you need to catch an early shinkansen bullet train<\/strong>, or would you rather walk to the Atomic Dome and soak up the atmosphere of the city center? It’s about 2.4 kilometers from the station to Peace Memorial Park, and you shouldn’t expect Tokyo-level luxury here. According to local tourism industry insiders, there aren’t many four-star hotels and no five-star properties at all.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When planning your trip to Japan, you’ll likely discover that for a one-night stay it makes the most sense to stay as close to the station as possible<\/strong>. However, if you have two or three days in the city, it’s much more pleasant to move right into the center near the park to save time on crowded morning trams. A special case is the sacred island of Miyajima, where you can experience an unforgettable night in a traditional ryokan once the crowds of day-trippers depart on the evening ferry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From April 1, 2026, a new accommodation tax of 200 yen<\/strong> per person per night applies throughout the prefecture. It affects you if your room without meals and taxes costs at least 6,000 yen per person. In practice, for a double room over around 12,000 yen, you’ll pay an additional 400 yen per couple at check-in. Hiroshima remains very reasonable in this regard, because in Kyoto, for example, you’ll pay many times this amount.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
