OREA Hotel Arigone<\/strong> in Olomouc, Czech Republic was our pick for one single reason: a hot tub and sauna right there in the room. When I think back to the days before kids, I remember long weekends when Luk\u00e1\u0161 and I would sink into a hot tub for a whole afternoon, read in the relaxation room and rush nowhere. But once a small child came along, our idea of relaxation had to shift a little, because you won’t last long in a regular public spa with a toddler in tow.<\/strong> And if you don’t have anyone around to babysit overnight, a romantic weekend starts to feel like pure sci-fi. Luckily, we discovered one brilliant travel trick that saved our parental sanity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The secret is staying somewhere with a hot tub or sauna right outside your own bedroom door.<\/strong> That’s exactly what lured us to the historic centre of Olomouc, home to the hugely popular OREA Hotel Arigone. In the evening you simply tuck your child into the cot, switch on the baby monitor and quietly slip off to the next room full of hot bubbles. We arrived with high expectations and I have to say that, despite one small parenting mishap on the very first evening, we absolutely loved it.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

I’ve written this up the way I’d tell a friend: what wowed us, what I’d double-check when booking and what it’s like staying here with a toddler. I’ll also get to the breakfasts, which alone would tempt me back to Olomouc.<\/strong> Having a good base right in the centre is half the battle on a city break.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
