It&#8217;ll be noisy, packed with tourists, and totally uncomfortable,&#8221; they warned me. <strong>But I took the gamble and chose <a class=\"thirstylink\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"Domus Balthasar Boutique Hotel\" href=\"https:\/\/loudavymkrokem.cz\/doporucujeme\/domus-balthasar-boutique-hotel\/\" data-shortcode=\"true\">Domus Balthasar<\/a> \u2013 and it turned out to At first glance, it&#8217;s exactly the kind of place most parents with small children would avoid \u2013 a historic building in the busiest part of the city. <strong>But the opposite is true \u2013 this hotel is practically made for a city break with a toddler.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The hotel has just eight rooms, all spacious and beautifully appointed. You can choose from generous Deluxe King rooms (40 m\u00b2), Royal Suites, and attic studios. <strong>For families with children, the Royal Suite is ideal \u2013 it features two large beds and enough room for even the most energetic toddlers to roam freely.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"A_location_that_lets_you_see_Prague_without_the_crowds\"><\/span>A location that lets you see Prague without the crowds<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The biggest perk of staying right next to Charles Bridge is being able to take full advantage of your early riser \u2013 which most toddlers undeniably are. That might sound like a drawback at first, but there&#8217;s an elegant solution. <strong>We used a service called Mr. Parkit, which is essentially the Airbnb of garages.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here&#8217;s how we did it: <strong>on the first evening, we parked in a garage near the hotel (more expensive, but practical for unloading all our stuff).<\/strong> For the remaining days, we moved the car to a garage in the Dejvice neighbourhood, where parking was significantly cheaper. <strong>This worked perfectly for us because we didn&#8217;t need the car at all in the city centre.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Rooms_that_are_made_for_families\"><\/span>Rooms that are made for families<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Let&#8217;s be honest \u2013 tiny hotel rooms are absolutely useless when you&#8217;re travelling with an active toddler.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Space_to_play_and_relax\"><\/span>Space to play and relax<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The best thing about this hotel is the generously sized rooms. Jon\u00e1\u0161 had plenty of space to play, things to explore, and we didn&#8217;t have to stress in the morning about <strong>whether my husband could keep him entertained long enough for me to get ready.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After a long day out, we didn&#8217;t feel cooped up \u2013 <strong>the room offered enough space for all our activities, including a large coffee table where we had a little picnic at the end of the day.<\/strong> It didn&#8217;t even matter that we&#8217;d forgotten to pack a travel high chair for Jon\u00e1\u0161.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Any seasoned parent knows that evenings with a toddler in a cramped hotel room can be a nightmare. When we arrived, the room was on the cooler side, which we welcomed. The hotel does offer the option of breakfast at a partner restaurant, but we preferred <strong>this caf\u00e9, which has a kids&#8217; play corner in the back.<\/strong> We could enjoy our coffee and breakfast in peace while our son played with the toys.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I tried the avocado toast, Turkish eggs, porridge, and shakshuka \u2013 <strong>everything was excellent.<\/strong> It&#8217;s a perfect way to start the day before heading out to explore Prague. <strong>For parents of small children, a caf\u00e9 with a play area is an absolute godsend.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Pushchair_and_getting_around_the_city\"><\/span>Pushchair and getting around the city<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The hotel doesn&#8217;t have a lift, which might sound like a problem for families with a full-size pushchair, <strong>but in practice it really wasn&#8217;t an issue at all.<\/strong> We simply left the pushchair downstairs by the entrance, where it was perfectly safe. For our next trip, I&#8217;m planning to get a compact travel stroller, so it won&#8217;t be a concern at all.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"What_the_hotel_doesnt_have\"><\/span>What the hotel doesn&#8217;t have<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><a class=\"thirstylink\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"Domus Balthasar Boutique Hotel\" href=\"https:\/\/loudavymkrokem.cz\/en\/doporucujeme\/domus-balthasar-boutique-hotel\/\" data-shortcode=\"true\">Domus Balthasar<\/a> isn&#8217;t a typical family hotel with kids&#8217; clubs, children&#8217;s pools, and play areas. It&#8217;s more of an elegant urban base for families who want to enjoy Prague as adults, not just as parents. A few things you might expect from a standard family hotel aren&#8217;t available here \u2013 but surprisingly, it really doesn&#8217;t matter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>There&#8217;s no lift<\/strong>, and you&#8217;ll need to keep that in mind. But as I mentioned, you can easily leave the pushchair safely by the entrance, and you won&#8217;t use it much in the historic centre anyway.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The hotel also doesn&#8217;t have its own restaurant or a standard breakfast buffet. <strong>We actually saw this as an advantage \u2013 instead of the same old hotel buffet, we discovered new caf\u00e9s and bistros in the neighbourhood every day.<\/strong> You can have breakfast at the partner caf\u00e9, which is apparently excellent.
