In New Brunswick, you can do exactly that at low tide. Just make sure you leave in time \u2013 the tide comes back in just a few hours\u2026<\/p>\n<p>By the way, New Brunswick is home to some of the friendliest people on the entire planet. The locals have a wonderful sense of where friendliness ends and intrusiveness begins. The area is also known as Cape Breton Highlands National Park of Canada. Visitors come here mainly from the US and other parts of Canada. You&#8217;ll find a range of hiking trails, from short walks of a few minutes to multi-hour treks. On the trails, you might encounter coyotes, moose, and even bears.<\/p>\n<p>Cape Breton was originally home to the Mi&#8217;kmaq people, who were displaced with the arrival of Europeans. The first European to spot Cape Breton was none other than John Cabot in 1497 (though historians still debate whether he first visited Newfoundland or Cape Breton). If you travel to the Atlantic provinces, you won&#8217;t escape this name. John Cabot (born Giovanni Caboto) was an Italian explorer who became the first European to reach the shores of what is now Canada.<\/p>\n<p>In the first photo, you can see the view from Franey. It took us about two hours to hike up, but it was absolutely worth it! I love the drive from Bruce Peninsula to Niagara Falls \u2013 the small towns along the way are classic North American gems with cute little shops, churches, and plenty of community events. If you visit, make sure to stop by the town of Niagara-on-the-Lake, which is a lovely little place.
