class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n<p>Tavira is located approximately 30 km east of Faro, making it an easily accessible destination from the region&#8217;s main transport hub.<strong> We arrived here from Carvoeiro; the journey takes about an hour (approximately 80 km).<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p>It stretches along both banks of the winding Rio Gil\u00e3o and is home to a hilltop castle ruin, an old Roman bridge, and several Gothic and Renaissance churches.<\/p>\n\n<p>The town is also part of the Ria Formosa Natural Park, a network of protected lagoons and islands that serve as a It serves as a reminder of the city&#8217;s Roman past thanks to its sturdy stone construction. Head towards Santo Est\u00eav\u00e3o, and from the parking lot, it&#8217;s just a short walk along a path that leads you to this magical natural wonder. <\/p>\n\n<p>During hot summers, Pego do Inferno can be crowded, so if you can, visit this place outside of peak season when you might have the waterfall almost to yourself.
