I traveled half the world to find that the most amazing place on Earth is in the very south of Europe \u2013 Portugal. In this guide I will share with you Portugal: 17 Best Places for Your Holiday. Maybe that’s why I didn’t want to write about it before. It was my piece of paradise that I didn’t want to share. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n

My husband, our dogs, and I come here every year<\/strong>, always heading to Algarve<\/a><\/strong> in the south of the country. What started as a two-week holiday gradually turned into month-long stays, which get longer each year.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n

For the past few years, we’ve also been looking for our winter home here. Because what’s the best thing about Portugal? That the Algarve is beautiful all year round. <\/strong> When our child was born, we decided to spend our first Christmas here with them. That’s how much we love it here. <\/p>\n\n

        <\/span>1. Carvoeiro \u2013 our Heart’s Desire<\/span><\/h2>\n\n

        Carvoeiro<\/a><\/strong> is our absolute love. This is where my husband, our dogs, and now our little one spend every winter. <\/p>\n\n

        Every morning, we start with coffee at Levels<\/strong>, a relatively new cafe right by the beach in the town center. They make the best cappuccino around (although, let’s be honest, it’s not the absolute best cappuccino in the world, but compared to other places nearby, Levels clearly wins \ud83d\ude05). <\/p>\n\n

        The most beautiful beach nearby? Praia da Marinha<\/strong>, which I think is one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. Over the years, we’ve returned here several times a week during our month-long stays, especially for sunset. We haven’t gotten tired of it yet; we take every visitor there and plan to go again. <\/p>\n\n

        And if you’re in the mood for a longer walk, head from Algar Seco<\/strong> (interesting rock formations) along the cliffs to the Alfanzina Lighthouse<\/strong>. We used to walk our dog there almost every evening, and the views of the ocean and the wild coast are incredibly calming.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n

        Accommodation tip:<\/strong> I recommend Quinta Nova Vale Del Rey<\/a><\/strong>, which has a beautiful pool and excellent breakfasts. It’s close to Praia da Marinha, so you’re just a short distance from Algarve’s most beautiful beach<\/a><\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n

        <\/span>2. Lagos \u2013 City of Golden Beaches and Mysterious Caves<\/span><\/h2>\n\n

        Lagos<\/a><\/strong> is a city where history meets some of Europe’s most breathtaking beaches. When we first visited, we didn’t really know what to expect, but now we come here regularly. <\/p>\n\n

        The most photogenic spot nearby? Ponta da Piedade<\/strong> \u2013 towering rock formations emerging from the turquoise sea. I’m a bit notorious for trying to photograph it in different lights to find out when it’s best. I don’t have a clear verdict yet, so I’ll probably keep dragging myself there every visit. <\/p>\n\n

        For an unforgettable experience, try kayaking around the cliffs and caves \u2013 it’s not possible with a baby right now, but it’s one of our favorite excursions. My husband always says he’d like to do this every day for the rest of his life. We always booked the trip through GetYourGuide<\/a>.<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n
