These days, as a family of three.<\/h1>\n    <p>We're Lucka and Luk\u00e1\u0161 Kone\u010dn\u00fd from P\u00edsek in South Bohemia. Loudav\u00fdm krokem is our travel diary and our handbook in one: everything we figure out on the road, we write down so it saves you time, money and a few mistakes.<\/p>\n    <div class=\"who\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/loudavymkrokem.cz\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/lukas-lucie-konecni.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"\">Lucka, Luk\u00e1\u0161, Jon\u00e1\u0161ek since 2024, and our dogs K\u00e1ja and Baby at home<\/div>\n  <\/div>\n<\/section>\n\n<section>\n  <div class=\"wrap\">\n    <h2>Our route<\/h2>\n    <p class=\"lead\">The blog started as an experiment: we wanted travel to pay for itself, at least a little. Here's where we've been since.<\/p>\n    <div class=\"route\" id=\"route\">\n      <svg class=\"line\" preserveAspectRatio=\"none\" viewBox=\"0 0 40 1000\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><path d=\"M20 0 V1000\"\/><\/svg>\n\n      <div class=\"stop\"><div class=\"ph noimg\">2014<\/div><span class=\"pin\"><\/span><div class=\"txt\"><div class=\"yr\">2014<\/div><h3>Loudav\u00fdm krokem<\/h3><p>The name, which means roughly \u201cat an ambling pace\u201d, unhurried, came to us in Moravia. We were dawdling through the woods, trying to think of a name for a Facebook page. We both had the initials LK even before the wedding, Lucie K\u016fsov\u00e1 and Luk\u00e1\u0161 Kone\u010dn\u00fd, so that settled it. While we were still at university (Lucka studied journalism at the Faculty of Social Sciences, Charles University, Luk\u00e1\u0161 studied economics at the Prague University of Economics and Business), we started writing our first travel articles.<\/p><\/div><\/div>\n\n      <div class=\"stop\"><div class=\"ph\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/loudavymkrokem.cz\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/yoho-emerald-lake-kanoe-lucie-cervena-vesta-768x512.jpg\" alt=\"Lucie in a canoe on Emerald Lake in Yoho National Park\" loading=\"lazy\" title=\"\"><\/div><span class=\"pin\"><\/span><div class=\"txt\"><div class=\"yr\">2016<\/div><h3>A year in Canada<\/h3><p>Working holiday visas and the Rockies. Lucka cleaned rooms and then worked the front desk at a hotel in Banff, guided tourists at Lake Louise and spent the winter as a barista in Calgary. Luk\u00e1\u0161 came along. That year gave us more photos and more articles than any other.<\/p><\/div><\/div>\n\n      <div class=\"stop\"><div class=\"ph\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/loudavymkrokem.cz\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/icefields-parkway-bow-lake-lucie-skok-helen-lake-768x512.jpg\" alt=\"Lucie jumping above the turquoise waters of Bow Lake\" loading=\"lazy\" title=\"\"><\/div><span class=\"pin\"><\/span><div class=\"txt\"><div class=\"yr\">2017<\/div><h3>Three months in a car, all the way to Alaska<\/h3><p>After Hawaii, we converted a car so we could sleep in it and drove through the USA and Canada all the way to Alaska. \u201cEvery crisis depended on how many days we'd gone without a shower,\u201d we said afterwards on DVTV, a Czech online TV channel.<\/p><\/div><\/div>\n\n      <div class=\"stop\"><div class=\"ph noimg\">2017<\/div><span class=\"pin\"><\/span><div class=\"txt\"><div class=\"yr\">2017<\/div><h3>Camping our way through Uganda<\/h3><p>At the end of the year we drove around Uganda and spent two weeks sleeping in a tent. We met a gorilla that came over to touch us, and lost a drone that got confiscated.<\/p><\/div><\/div>\n\n      <div class=\"stop\"><div class=\"ph noimg\">2018<\/div><span class=\"pin\"><\/span><div class=\"txt\"><div class=\"yr\">2018<\/div><h3>A wedding, then e-bikes to Greece<\/h3><p>We got married at the end of July and straight after set off on e-bikes from P\u00edsek to Greece and back. Six weeks that Lucka wrote about for the Czech magazine Report\u00e9r.<\/p><\/div><\/div>\n\n      <div class=\"stop\"><div class=\"ph noimg\">2019<\/div><span class=\"pin\"><\/span><div class=\"txt\"><div class=\"yr\">2019<\/div><h3>Thailand and Mexico<\/h3><p>We worked from our laptops and lived somewhere new every few months. On Koh Samui we learned to ride a scooter, and in Mexico we found out just how pleasant life there can be.<\/p><\/div><\/div>\n\n      <div class=\"stop\"><div class=\"ph\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/loudavymkrokem.cz\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/lukas-a-lucie-lk-media-700x700-1.jpg\" alt=\"Luk\u00e1\u0161 and Lucie at a desk in their office\" loading=\"lazy\" title=\"\"><\/div><span class=\"pin\"><\/span><div class=\"txt\"><div class=\"yr\">2019<\/div><h3>Starting LK Media<\/h3><p>We moved our client work under our own brand. What began as a small \u201cfreelance duo\u201d is now a marketing agency for Czech companies.<\/p><\/div><\/div>\n\n      <div class=\"stop\"><div class=\"ph noimg\">2021<\/div><span class=\"pin\"><\/span><div class=\"txt\"><div class=\"yr\">2021\u20132025<\/div><h3>Summers in P\u00edsek, winters in Portugal<\/h3><p>Covid brought us back home, and we found out we liked it there. We still left for the winters, though, most often to Portugal. It used to mean months at a time, nights in car parks and working from caf\u00e9s on the other side of the world. Now we travel in shorter stretches and more slowly, because with a two-year-old there's no other way.<\/p>\n      <p>Funnily enough, that has brought us closer to the name of our blog than ever. The blog is one of our main sources of income and pays for all our trips. Lucka promised him back then that one day she would write a book about him. The story, written for premature babies and their parents, came out in 2025, illustrated by Jon\u00e1\u0161ek's aunt Anna-Marie.<\/p>\n      <p>On the Czech crowdfunding platform Hithit, 2,267 people backed it with more than CZK 669,000.
