The tulip fields and Keukenhof are open roughly <strong>from mid-March to mid-May<\/strong>. The fields are usually at their best in the <strong>second half of April<\/strong>. The exact timing varies from year to year with the weather, though, so book flexibly and keep an eye on the current bloom.<\/p>\n<p>Summer (June\u2013August) is lovely for cycling trips and lingering by the canals. The weather is at its most stable, but Amsterdam is in full tourist swing and accommodation prices climb. <strong>May and September<\/strong> are our favourite compromise: mild weather, fewer crowds and more sensible prices.<\/p>\n<p>Autumn and winter in the Netherlands are windy, grey and often rainy.
