Late spring (May\u2013June) is ideal for the mountains and towns \u2014 everything is green and in bloom, and it&#8217;s not yet muggy. Besides the capital, you can also fly to regional cities like Cluj-Napoca or Timi\u0219oara, which is handy if you&#8217;re heading straight for Transylvania. Sometimes you&#8217;ll find direct flights, other times you&#8217;ll change in Vienna, Budapest or another hub.<\/p>\n<p>By car it&#8217;s <strong>around 1,000\u20131,300 km<\/strong> from Prague to Romania depending on your destination, which realistically means a full day&#8217;s drive through Slovakia and Hungary. On the other hand, if you&#8217;re staying in Bucharest or other big cities, a car is just dead weight.
