The sea is warmest in <strong>August and September<\/strong>, when the water stays above 26 \u00b0C and swimming is lovely well into the evening. That said, stick to July and August for the sea alone \u2014 the interior and the ancient sites are oppressively hot at that time.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For sightseeing (Ephesus, Pamukkale, Cappadocia, Istanbul) we reckon the best time is <strong>spring (April\u2013June) and autumn (September\u2013October)<\/strong>. It&#8217;s warm but not unbearable, and you don&#8217;t have to walk the terraces of Pamukkale or the ruins under the midday sun. Cappadocia also looks gorgeous outside summer \u2014 the balloons fly year-round, weather permitting.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The off-season (<strong>November\u2013March<\/strong>) we&#8217;d only recommend for cities and culture \u2014 on the Riviera many hotels are closed and it&#8217;s too chilly for swimming.
