where to Stay in Prague with a Toddler?

This boutique hotel is located right by Charles Bridge in a historic building near the Lesser Town Bridge Tower. At first glance, it might not seem like an ideal choice for a family with a toddler, but the opposite is true.

The biggest advantage of staying right by Charles Bridge is the opportunity to make use of our toddlers’ early morning wake-ups. Every morning we went out around seven and had Charles Bridge, Lesser Town Square, and the surrounding streets almost to ourselves – no tourist crowds, no queues, just us and Prague bathed in the morning sun.

From our room, there was a magnificent view directly of Charles Bridge, which absolutely fascinated Jonáš. We would easily spend 45 minutes a day looking out the window, watching people walk by below. Another advantage is that you don’t have to deal with complicated transfers by public transport – from the hotel, you can walk to Prague Castle, Lesser Town Square, or across the bridge to the Old Town within minutes.

If I want Jonáš to endure a longer stroller ride, he needs to let off steam for at least 2-3 hours. That’s why we always look for a cafe with a playroom or a playroom itself for breakfast or in the morning. I’ve prepared a list for you that I put together before our trip (I received recommendations for them or discovered them myself). We’ve been to most places, missed a few, but plan to make up for it.

1. Rejžárna – Sensory Play in Prague 10

Rejžárna was by far the biggest hit for our one-year-old Jonáš. Although I was concerned that this activity would be too challenging for such a young child, the opposite was true – he absolutely loved it and had a great time. The place offers excellent facilities for the youngest children and provides them with space for sensory development through various activities.

If you’ve never heard of the concept of sensory play, these are activities that stimulate children’s senses through play – touch, sight, hearing, as well as smell and taste. Children can explore various materials, textures, and stimuli, which significantly supports their cognitive development and fine and gross motor skills. At Rejžárna, they have various activities prepared every day that support this sensory play.

  • Address: Altajská 1568/2, Prague 10
  • Parking: Available on the main street (30 CZK/hour, free on weekends) or at OC Eden (2 hours free)
  • Price: 110 CZK/child for free sensory play
  • Reservation: Not required in advance, you can arrive anytime during opening hours
  • Playtime: Not time-limited

For those who would like more structured activities, Rejžárna also offers the option to sign up for a course, which includes a larger number of well-thought-out stations and a lecturer is also available.

2. Skákal Pes – Playroom, Shop, and Cafe in One

Another excellent choice for fun with a toddler is the concept of Skákal pes, which combines a playroom, a children’s clothing store, and a cafe. Although it was quite crowded during our visit, Jonáš loves the company of other children, so he really enjoyed it. A great advantage of this place is the cafe, which offers a wide selection of refreshments suitable for children with various food allergies – this will be especially appreciated by parents whose children have certain restrictions.

Skákal pes was created as a unique concept for parents who want to shop responsibly and in a pleasant environment. The store offers quality second-hand children’s clothing, toys, and accessories from local brands. The operators’ philosophy is based on respect for nature and people; they support slow fashion, zero waste, and textile recycling.

3. The Spot – a Cozy Cafe with a Kids’ Corner in Malá Strana

If you’re looking for a place where you can chat or work peacefully while your child is entertained, The Spot in Malá Strana is an absolutely divine space. Besides excellent food and great coffee, you’ll find a beautiful kids’ corner where children can play. We used it for work meetings – Jonáš played, and we could talk undisturbed.

At The Spot, we tasted several dishes – porridge, shakshuka, Turkish eggs, avocado toast, and a sweet roll – and everything was really delicious.

The Spot Malá Strana is located directly on Kinských Square and offers great breakfasts and lunches daily, focusing on modern international gastronomy. In summer, you can sit in the garden with good food, a glass of wine, or a cocktail.

4. Kuličkário – Interactive Exhibition for Children and Adults

Kuličkário is a unique interactive exhibition where you’ll find 5 rooms with differently colored balls. It’s a place where both children and adults can have a blast. The goal is to forget about the worries of everyday life for a while, jump into the balls, and awaken your inner child’s playfulness.

From my own experience, I would say, that this attraction is more suitable for children who can already walk. When we went there with Jonáš, who isn’t walking yet, he was quite tired, so he couldn’t fully enjoy it. However, for toddlers who can walk independently, it’s great fun.

The main advantage of Kuličkário is that they only let in small groups of visitors, so you can enjoy your experience without crowds of other people. This also gives you plenty of space for taking photos and fully utilizing all interactive elements.

Practical Information:

  • Price with reservation and online payment:
    • Child (0-18 years): 225 CZK
    • Adult (18+): 275 CZK
    • Family (2 children + 2 adults): 845 CZK

5. World of Jellyfish – a Fascinating Underwater World in the Heart of Prague

World of Jellyfish is a unique project where the astonishing life of jellyfish intertwines with audiovisual effects. This attraction is newly listed in the Guinness Book of Records for the largest spherical aquarium (even so, it seemed quite small for the money, but I understand that caring for jellyfish is extremely demanding). In an area of over seven hundred square meters, you will find 38 aquariums where you can admire more than 30 species of jellyfish.

It seems like a great place for the whole family, because Jonáš looked at it fascinated, so we all enjoyed it.

A great advantage of this place is that it’s relatively small, so even an extremely active child who doesn’t want to be carried for long, like our Jonáš, can handle it. In addition to the jellyfish aquariums themselves, the complex also includes a children’s playground and a restaurant for children, where they can draw their jellyfish, scan it, and then watch it projected onto the wall (this is, of course, for older children, but Jonáš tried to catch the jellyfish there…)

What I didn’t like was how the place is marked; if you park by the wrong elevator, you’ll wander around for quite a while. Other people confirmed this to me as well. I don’t understand why they don’t mark it better. We even called them, and they couldn’t properly direct us.

6. Pojď Si Hrát Playroom – a Family Cafe with Space for the Little Ones

Pojď si hrát Playroom is a small family cafe with space and facilities for the youngest children. Although we wanted to visit this place based on recommendations, unfortunately, we didn’t make it. However, according to references, it’s a cozy cafe created with love for children, literally by the operators’ own hands and tested by their own children.

Practical Information:

  • In case of unfavorable weather, they recommend booking in advance or at least calling about availability
  • Reservation: by phone at +420 737 057 319 (email or social media do not guarantee a quick response)

7. Fabiánek – a Magical Cafe with a Children’s Playroom

Fabiánek Cafe is located on King George of Poděbrady Square in Řevnice. The patron of the cafe is the gnome Fabiánek, son of Fabián, guardian of the Brdy forests, who, according to the founders, ensures that both small and large visitors feel good in the cafe.

Behind the creation of the cafe are Svetlana Karasová and her daughter Anna, who fulfilled their dream of creating a space for families with children. Together, they transformed the premises into a pleasant family business where a love for coffee is combined with a community spirit.

The playroom at Fabiánek Cafe is inspired by the Brdy forests and offers a ball pit, climbing frames, and other activities that children love. Thanks to this, parents can enjoy a moment of peace with a cup of coffee or calmly get some work done. The menu caters to everyone – you’ll find gluten-free, vegan, and classic treats, all prepared with an emphasis on quality and taste.

Practical Information:

  • Address: King George of Poděbrady Square 2, 252 30 Řevnice

8. Malá Země – Children’s Playroom with a Cafe and Garden

Also worth mentioning is Malá Země – a children’s playroom with a cafe and garden. This place provides children with a fun, friendly, and kind environment suitable for their development and growth.

For parents, it’s a place where they can enjoy fun with their children and friends, or, conversely, gain free time for themselves while calmly enjoying a coffee. Malá Země also offers the possibility to host a celebration in their space, and they also have children’s activities and fun programs for the whole family.

Practical Information:

  • Opening hours: Mon-Sat 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM
  • Address: Drahotínská 1297/10, Prague – Řeporyje

9. Hravá Čočka – Gastronomy through a Child’s Eyes

Hravá čočka is another place that specializes in the needs of the youngest guests. This establishment understands that playing and eating are often “hard work” for children. Some children need to refuel to play, while others get hungry right after playing. And parents need to replenish energy whenever they have free hands. That’s why at Hravá čočka, they approach food as fun and an adventure.

They prepare nutritious meals from seasonal ingredients that also appeal visually to children. The kitchen plays with colors and presentation. Mealtime and playtime at Hravá čočka don’t exclude each other, but naturally blend. Portions and flavors are adapted to children’s palates and stomachs, so the phrase “I can’t eat anymore” is not often heard here.

Behind Hravá čočka is Ventura Group, a Czech family company that operates several Prague restaurants, apartments, and Czech Catering. In everything they do, they primarily consider Czech tradition, whose values they recognize and develop using modern technologies and 21st-century trends.

10. Kidzbay – Halotherapy Children’s Playroom

The last tip on our list is Kidzbay – the first halotherapy children’s playroom in the Czech Republic. We also wanted to visit this place, but unfortunately, we didn’t make it. Kidzbay is a bay full of fun designed for families with small children, based on the concept of “breathe play”.

What does that mean? Children play here in a way that can benefit their health through salt inhalation – similar to being by the sea. At Kidzbay, they have a special salt inhalatorium in the form of a sea beach. The playroom floor is covered with sea salt instead of sand, and the air in the playroom is saturated with a salt mist. Children play here and feel like they’re on a real beach.

Very fine salt particles enter their lungs and skin during play, where they can have a positive effect. One therapy session on the salt beach lasts 45 minutes, and even after that, the little guests and their parents won’t be bored, as further adventures await them in the playroom and a healthy snack in the children’s cafe.

Staying by the sea usually improves breathing and positively helps with allergies and skin problems. Each therapy session at Kidzbay in this regard can bring a similar effect and act similarly to a seaside environment.

Tips and Tricks for Your Vacation

Don’t Overpay for Flights

Search for flights on Kayak. It’s our favorite search engine because it scans the websites of all airlines and always finds the cheapest connection.

Book Your Accommodation Smartly

The best experiences we’ve had when looking for accommodation (from Alaska to Morocco) are with Booking.com, where hotels, apartments, and entire houses are usually the cheapest and most widely available.

Don’t Forget Travel Insurance

Good travel insurance will protect you against illness, accidents, theft, or flight cancellations. We’ve had a few hospital visits abroad, so we know how important it is to have proper insurance arranged.

Where we insure ourselves: SafetyWing (best for everyone) and TrueTraveller (for extra-long trips).

Why don’t we recommend any Czech insurance company? Because they have too many restrictions. They set limits on the number of days abroad, travel insurance via a credit card often requires you to pay medical expenses only with that card, and they frequently limit the number of returns to the Czech Republic.

Find the Best Experiences

Get Your Guide is a huge online marketplace where you can book guided walks, trips, skip-the-line tickets, tours, and much more. We always find some extra fun there!
