Łeba isn’t just another “boring” seaside town in Poland; it’s a place where several worlds converge. On one hand, you’ll be amazed by the shifting sand dunes, reminiscent of an African desert. On the other, you’ll find a modern town full of attractions that will delight adventurers of all ages. In this guide, I’ll share with you Łeba, Poland: 10 Best Things to Do and See, including accommodation tips.

Łeba: A Holiday in Poland
Łeba

TL;DR

  • Łeba is an ideal destination for a family holiday on the Baltic Sea coast
  • The main attraction is Słowiński National Park with its shifting dunes
  • For families with children, you’ll find many amusement parks and attractions here
  • The best time to visit is from May to September
  • Accommodation tips: SEA-PORT Resort or Łeba SPOT

When to Visit Łeba

When is the best time to visit Łeba? It depends on what you expect from your holiday.

The main tourist season in Łeba lasts from June to mid-September. During this period, you can look forward to pleasant temperatures and many sunny days. July and August are the warmest months, with air temperatures ranging between 22–27 °C and sea water temperatures reaching a pleasant 19–22 °C.

If you prefer a quieter atmosphere but still want to experience pleasant weather, I recommend visiting Łeba in June or September. In these months, there are fewer tourists, prices are lower, and you can still expect temperatures around 20 °C.

For active holiday enthusiasts, May or October is ideal. Although temperatures are lower (around 15–18 °C), the beaches and attractions are almost empty, and you can peacefully enjoy the beauty of the surrounding nature.

The winter months also have their charm. Temperatures in winter range between 0–5 °C, but the weather is unstable, and most tourist attractions are closed.

Łeba, Poland: 10 Best Things to Do and See

Let’s take a look at the 10 most interesting places and activities you definitely shouldn’t miss during your stay in Łeba.

Shifting Dunes in Słowiński National Park

Imagine standing in the middle of a small desert with sand dunes up to 40 meters high – that’s exactly the experience awaiting you in Słowiński National Park. These shifting dunes, constantly changing and moving under the influence of wind (up to 10 meters annually!), are one of the area’s main attractions.

You can reach the national park from Łeba by car (about 7 km), but after parking, you must continue either on foot (about 5 km), by bike, or you can rent an electric melex cart. Along the way, you’ll come across another interesting sight – a museum of World War II rocket launchers, where the Nazis tested anti-aircraft missiles.

When you finally arrive at the dunes, a truly unforgettable view will open up before you. The smooth sand, which looks otherworldly, often covers trees and later reveals them in the form of dead stumps.

The Beautiful Beaches of Łeba

Łeba boasts some of the most beautiful beaches on the Polish coast. The main city beach stretches for many kilometers and features fine, light sand and a gentle entry into the sea, which is ideal for families with children.

The beaches in Łeba are vast and wide, so even during peak season, you’ll find a spot to lay out your towel. A range of services is available on the beach – you can rent sun loungers and umbrellas, visit beach bars, or enjoy a massage right by the sound of the sea waves.

A unique feature of the local beaches is their specific microclimate with an increased salt and iodine content, which has healing effects. It’s no wonder, then, that Łeba is also a popular spa destination.

If you long for more tranquility, I recommend the beach in Ulinia, which is about 14 km from Łeba. This less-visited beach offers not only peace but also a unique attraction: the wreck of the Danish sailing ship West Star, which sank here in 1971.

Łeba Park – World of Dinosaurs

Traveling with kids? Then you definitely shouldn’t miss Łeba Park – one of the largest dinosaur parks in Poland. Across twenty hectares, you’ll see realistic, life-sized models of prehistoric reptiles that will thrill visitors of all ages.

Besides dinosaurs, you’ll also find Bajlandia, a house of horrors, a monkey trail, an Indian village, and an exhibition dedicated to Neanderthals. A major attraction is the chance to drive the famous Flintstones’ vehicle.

The park is located in Nowęcin, just a short distance from Łeba, and is accessible on foot (about a 30-minute walk) or by car (a 7-minute drive). Tickets cost 95 PLN (approx. 560 CZK) for adults and 75 PLN (440 CZK) for children under 15; children under 4 enter for free. All attractions are included in the ticket price.

Sea Park Sarbsk – World of Marine Creatures

Just a 10-minute drive from Łeba, you’ll find Sea Park in Sarbsk – a park dedicated to the marine world. The main attraction is the focarium (seal sanctuary), where you can observe seals and learn something new.

At Sea Park, you’ll see several species of seals, especially California sea lions and grey seals. Several times a day, entertaining and educational shows are held here, during which these intelligent creatures demonstrate their skills: they play with a ball, dance, and even sing!

In addition to the focarium, the park also offers a prehistoric 3D oceanarium that “brings to life” extinct marine creatures, models of marine animals with information boards, and a children’s playground with a giant octopus.

Lake Sarbsko

Besides the sea, Łeba also offers a freshwater alternative – Lake Sarbsko. This lake, 6.6 km long and up to 1.2 km wide, is located south of the town and is a popular spot for water sports and fishing.

Thanks to its shallow depth (maximum 3.2 meters), the lake water is incredibly clean and warm. You can also rent kayaks, pedal boats, or paddleboards on the lake.

The northern shore of the lake is heavily forested and covered with dunes, which is great for hiking or cycling trips.

Alex’s Farm

Alex’s Farm in the nearby village of Charbrowo (about a 12-minute drive from Łeba) is the first agricultural amusement park in Poland and offers a truly exceptional experience for the whole family.

At the farm, you can admire live animals like goats, alpacas, and ponies, but also learn more about crop cultivation and get an idea of how much work goes into producing the food we eat every day.

Here you can walk through a natural corn maze, jump on trampolines, race with wheelbarrows, or visit a hay village. There are also slides built into agricultural machinery, which little visitors will especially appreciate.

Amber Museum

The Baltic coast is known for its amber, and Łeba is no exception. The Amber Museum, located near the beach, will reveal all the secrets of its formation.

In the museum, you’ll go through four thematic rooms: an amber forest from 40 million years ago, an ice age room with life-sized animals, a room with insects trapped in amber, and an amber room with unique exhibits.

For children, there’s a Dragon Land exhibition with scenes from films, for example, featuring the character Toothless from the animated movie “How to Train Your Dragon”.

Stilo Lighthouse

About a 25-minute drive from Łeba, you’ll find the Stilo Lighthouse. This early 20th-century structure stands on a dune 45 meters above sea level and features characteristic 3 stripes – black at the bottom, white in the middle, and red at the top.

From the lighthouse, there’s a breathtaking view of the Baltic Sea and the surrounding landscape. On clear days, the lighthouse’s light is even visible from Nowęcin, which is more than 20 km away.

The lighthouse is open seven days a week from May to September.

Funland

For families with children, Funland is a great choice – an “inflatable” amusement park created in 2021. The park offers attractions for the whole family, making you feel literally like a ninja!

Funland includes almost 700 m² of attractions, including a 400 m² indoor playground (so no rain can spoil your fun) and one of the longest obstacle courses in Poland, measuring 50 meters. In the shortest possible time, you must overcome obstacles like large climbing walls, long slides, or narrow tunnels.

The bravest visitors can look forward to a huge 8-meter jungle-themed bouncy hill. During holidays, the park is open every day.

Culinary Experiences

No holiday would be complete without tasting local specialties, and Łeba certainly doesn’t fall short in this regard. As a seaside town, it primarily offers excellent fresh fish and seafood.

Visit the Last Rescue Board fishing tavern on Wybrzeże Street, where you can taste delicious and fresh fish caught from their own boats; especially the turbot and brill are worth trying.

Another great place is Stawros on Sienkiewicza Street, where, besides fish, you can also try excellent salmon tartare. You can wash it all down with Łebski beer from the local brewery.

For pizza lovers, I recommend visiting Restaurant No. 5 on Nadmorska Street, where they offer not only great pizza but also fantastic potato pancakes with salmon and Thai fish soup with coconut milk.

And if you’re in the mood for coffee and dessert, visit Coffee Roaster Cafe No. 5 on Chełstu.

Tips and Tricks for Your Vacation

Don’t Overpay for Flights

Search for flights on Kayak. It’s our favorite search engine because it scans the websites of all airlines and always finds the cheapest connection.

Book Your Accommodation Smartly

The best experiences we’ve had when looking for accommodation (from Alaska to Morocco) are with Booking.com, where hotels, apartments, and entire houses are usually the cheapest and most widely available.

Don’t Forget Travel Insurance

Good travel insurance will protect you against illness, accidents, theft, or flight cancellations. We’ve had a few hospital visits abroad, so we know how important it is to have proper insurance arranged.

Where we insure ourselves: SafetyWing (best for everyone) and TrueTraveller (for extra-long trips).

Why don’t we recommend any Czech insurance company? Because they have too many restrictions. They set limits on the number of days abroad, travel insurance via a credit card often requires you to pay medical expenses only with that card, and they frequently limit the number of returns to the Czech Republic.

Find the Best Experiences

Get Your Guide is a huge online marketplace where you can book guided walks, trips, skip-the-line tickets, tours, and much more. We always find some extra fun there!
